Over time, patients enter a maintenance phase, with recommended maintenance sessions every 6 to 12 months. (The exact number of sessions and intervals may vary from person to person.)
What should I do before the session?
Shave the area: Shave the treatment area with a razor 24 hours before the session to allow the laser to effectively target the hair root. Avoid sun exposure: Avoid exposing the treatment area to the sun for at least 48 hours before the session, as tanned skin may increase the risk of complications. Avoid using products: Do not apply deodorants, oils, or other cosmetic substances to the area on the day of the session to ensure skin cleanliness.
What should I be careful about after the session?
Avoid activities that cause sweating: For the next 24 hours, avoid the gym, sauna, and very hot baths, as excessive heat and sweat may irritate the skin. Limit sun exposure: Avoid direct sun exposure on the treated area for at least 48 hours after the session. If sun exposure is necessary, use high-SPF sunscreen. Avoid excessive friction on the area: Do not rub or scratch the treated area to prevent irritation or possible infections. Use a moisturizer: Apply a gentle moisturizer or Aloe Vera cream to soothe the skin and reduce any redness or irritation. Avoid products with alcohol: Do not use products containing alcohol, such as deodorants or perfumes, on the treated area for 24 hours after the session.
How often should the sessions be done?
To achieve optimal results in laser hair removal, sessions should be performed every 4 to 6 weeks. This interval allows the laser to effectively target hairs in the anagen (active growth) phase. Maintaining this schedule is crucial, as consistency ensures the coverage of all hair growth cycles, leading to more effective and long-term reduction.
What will I notice in the treated area after each session?
After each laser hair removal session, treated hairs will gradually shed. Within 2 to 3 weeks, hairs will surface and naturally fall out. In the early sessions, the treated area may appear uneven, with some spots having fewer hairs than others, creating a "patchy" effect. This is normal and occurs because hairs are in different growth stages. These uneven patches are not due to human error or missed areas during treatment, as was the case with older technologies. Instead, they reflect the natural hair growth cycle, with different areas containing hairs at different stages.
